Part of your RISING experience likely involves taking in Wandering Stars—our over 500-metre-long glowing lantern installation exploring the eel’s mysterious lifecycle and its significance to the peoples of the Kulin Nations.
One of the best vantage points to experience the installation, and a necessary stop in itself, are our kitchens at Birrarung Marr. Bathed in lantern light, order from a menu devised by Meatsmith—the specialty butcher by one of the city’s most beloved chefs, Andrew McConnell, together with acclaimed butcher Troy Wheeler.
Their team will dish up warming meals for friends and family to share, hearty soups and charcoal-grilled snacks. Think fried chicken sandwiches with fennel glaze; slow-cooked beef short rib with pickled daikon radish; or fried potatoes with cultured cream and chives.
Grab a table early to be in prime position for when the The Rivers Sing makes its call (5.15PM) and the river lights up. There’s no need to line-up either. Just grab yourself a spot at a communal table, or near a roaring fire, and order through Mr Yum QR codes.
