Event information

This work takes place as part of the Golden Square car park exhibition, and also on the streets of Chinatown. Please refer to the [Golden Square](/festival-program/golden-square) page for information on how to access the venue.


Venue Access

Face masks are now required for patrons 12 years and older at RISING indoor venues. By entering a RISING venue you agree to wear a mask, if you refuse to do so you may be denied entry or asked to leave. As announced by the Victorian Government, face masks are mandatory in indoor settings for all patrons 12 years and over.

The moon’s phases mark the river’s swell; the opening and closing of underworld gates; and times of harvest and celebration. 

*Parade for the Moon* is a sporadic, bi-nightly, 30-person parade by artists Jason Phu, Nabilah Nordin, James Nguyen and Veisinia Tonga—a parade of spirits, dragons, loud drums and animals marching in tribute to the moon. 

Performers sporting extravagant costumes made by local community groups weave in and out of [*Golden Square*](/festival-program/golden-square) and [Chinatown](https://rising.melbourne/districts/chinatown), in recognition of the moon worship and symbolism prevalent in Melbourne’s myriad cultures.
